Cape Girardeau Roller Derby (CGRD) is hosting tryouts for adults interested in training for its 2018 competitive season. CGRD is a non-profit flat track roller derby league dedicated to giving back to the community. In 2017, CGRD raised funds for local charities including Southeast Hospice, Mac’s Mission, Watkins Wildlife Rehabilitation, and Special Olympics Missouri. This free event will be held on October 2 at 6:00 pm at the AC Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. All adults ages 18 and older are encouraged to attend. If you’re a “team player” who’s ready to learn, then this is the sport for you! No skating experience is necessary; all new recruits are enrolled in the team’s 90-day “Fresh Meat” training program in order to learn basic skills before joining veteran skaters on the track.
